Ultrasound can be useful to visualise superficial soft tissue structures surrounding the knee. As always, integrating ultrasound as part of your clinical examination, alongside other imaging modalities and what they offer is important. Common structures visualised around the knee include: Patella and quadriceps tendons Several knee bursae Muscle and tendinous structures anterior and posterior to the joint Joint lines and capsular recesses
